The second Dosan Ahn Chang-ho-class submarine, the Anmu,
"Even the US Navy Couldn't Track It..."
"Stealth Performance That Astonished the World"

As I've written about the Anmu,
just two years after its commissioning, it participated in Exercise Silent Shark off the coast of Guam,
cruising 7,000 km and completing 57 days of training before safely returning home at the end of last year.

This exercise was not a large-scale multinational exercise like RIMPAC,
but rather specialized anti-submarine warfare training, covering submarine tracking and attack drills, free-range combat, and air-to-submarine warfare.

First, despite the long-distance voyage and extensive training,
not a single minor malfunction occurred.

It was designed and built in-house, and
over 40 key components were domestically produced.

It was a truly perfect submarine.

Second, it boasts unparalleled stealth performance.
Submarine stealth is largely achieved through two key elements:

minimizing radiation noise.  Propeller noise is reduced, and shock mounts are installed on each piece of equipment to prevent noise from being transmitted underwater.

Sound-absorbing tiles are attached to the exterior of the hull, preventing anti-submarine sound waves from being reflected and absorbed when they strike the submarine, creating a ghost submarine.

The Anmu, with its AIP system, can operate underwater for three weeks without a snorkel, minimizing exposure. While the Anmu was difficult to detect even by American submarines, it detected a US submarine, surprising the US and international navies.

The Anmu is not the only vessel to boast about, as a Canadian submarine sonar is on board.

안무함에 관해 앞에서도 썼지만
취역한지 2년만에 괌 근해에서
실시한 Silent Shark훈련에 참가해
7000km를 항해하고 57일간 훈련을
마치고 지난 연말 무사히 귀국했다.

이번 훈련은 림팩처럼 대규모로
진행되는 다국적 훈련이 아니라
전문적인 대잠전 훈련으로 잠수함
추적과 공격훈련, 자유공방전,
항공대잠전 등을 실시했다.

첫째, 장거리 항해와 장시간 훈련에
단 한 건의 작은 고장도 없었다.
우리 손으로 설계하고 건조했으며
핵심장비 40여종을 국산화했다
그야말로 완벽한 잠수함이었다.

둘째 최고의 스텔스 성능이다.
잠수함 스텔스는 크게 두가지다.

방사소음(Radiation Noise)을
최소화하는 것으로 프로펠러에서
나는 추진소음을 줄이고 각장비에
Shock mount를 설치해 수중으로
소음이 전달되지 않게 한다.

대잠세력 음파가 잠수함에 부딪쳐
반사되지 않고 흡수되는 흡음타일을
선체 외부에 부착, 유령잠수함을
만들고 있다.

안무함은 AIP시스템으로 3주간
스노클 없이 수중작전이 가능해
노출을 최소화 해 미국잠수함도
잘 탐지를 하지 못했으나 안무함은
미국 잠수함을 탐지해 미국과 세계
해군을 놀라게 했다.
캐나다 잠수함 음탐사가 안무함에
타고 있어서 우리만의 자랑이 아니다.
