The Sanctuary of Truth (Thai: ปราสาทสัจธรรม) is an unfinished museum in Pattaya, Thailand designed by Thai businessman Lek Viriyaphan.[1] The museum structure is a hybrid of a temple and a castle that is themed on the Ayutthaya Kingdom and of Buddhist and Hindu beliefs. The building is notably constructed entirely out of wood, specifically Mai Deang, Mai Takien, Mai Panchaat, and Teak. It contains only wood-carved idols and sculptures. Construction first began in 1981 and is still in construction, though visitors are permitted inside with hard hats. Located on 13 hectares of land, the temple houses an internal space of 2,115 m2, with the tallest spire reaching to 105 m.[2]

 

1981년부터 파타야 북쪽 해안에 건설 중인 거대 목조건축물인 진리의 성전 입니다.

높이 105미터, 넓이 사방 100미터, 건물을 받들고 있는 기둥만 170개 이상이며 건축물의 무게는 1만 톤으로 순수 목재로만 만들어졌습니다.

기업가인 '렉 위리야판'의 자본으로 디자인되었으며, 2000년 11월 17일 78세로 임종 후 후손들이 유업을 이어 받아 완공해 나가고 있습니다.70년 대 동서 간의 이념분쟁 및 종교분쟁의 종언을 고하고 종교 간 화합을 통해 인류의 평화를 소망하는 염원을 담았으며,

소승불교(동관), 인도의 힌두교(서관), 크메르 브라만교(남관), 대승불교(북관)의 건축 양식을 반영하여 중앙 돔에서 하나로 만나도록 표현하였습니다.

물, 바람, 태양, 흙이 이루는 세계로도 표현하고 있어 실질적으로 인류의 화합 및 유토피아에 대한 생명의 공통 목표를 간절히 기원한다고 볼 수 있습니다.

바다 바람과 햇빛을 견딜 수 있도록 100년 이상 된 티크, 마호가니, 나왕 등의 원목을 조각하고 이어붙여 건축하고 있으나,

바닷바람에 의해 끊임없이 변색이 되고 부식을 하고 있기에 보수가 지속적으로 진행되어 방문을 하시게 되면 인부들이 조각하는 모습을 볼 수 있습니다.
