중국군은 오늘 아침 베이징에서 미래 전쟁과 싸울 수있는 새로운 수단을 공개했다. 첫 번째 큰 변위 자율 수중 차량 (AUV) 인 HSU-001을 발표하는 등 중화 인민 공화국 창립 70 주년을 기념하는 퍼레이드 주말에 예상대로.

군사 퍼레이드는 방대한 규모였으며이 나라의 이전 퍼레이드보다 우월했습니다. 무언의 규칙은 집에서 만든 최첨단 기술을 전시하는 것이 었습니다. 중국 무기는 단순히 다른 나라 디자인의 사본이거나 구식 키트의 달팽이 모양의 진화의 결과라는 역사적 명성을 버리고 있습니다. 새로운 스텔스 드론, 순항 미사일 및 초음속 미사일이 모두 전시되었습니다. AUV는 상대적으로 크지 만 다른 뾰족한 장난감에 비해 섹시하지 않은 것으로 보일 수 있습니다. 그러나 그것은 해전에서 바다 변화를 나타냅니다.

China Navy Reveals New Large Underwater Robot Which Could Be A Game Changer

The Chinese military revealed new means to fight future wars this morning in Beijing at a parade to mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, including unveiling its first large displacement Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV), the HSU-001, as I predicted over the weekend would occur.

Two of the new HSU-001 Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) were on display in Beijing.

The military parade was massive, trumping previous ones in the country. An unspoken rule was to display home-grown cutting-edge technology. Chinese weapons are throwing off their historic reputation of being mere copies of other country's designs, or the result of snails-pace evolution of outdated kit. New stealth drones, cruise missiles and hypersonic missiles were all on display. The AUV, large though it is in relative terms, might be seen as unsexy compared to the other pointy toys. But it represents a sea-change in naval warfare.

The AUV’s layout is telling. The twin propellers, called screws in nautical circles, are optimized for cruising. So the HSU-001 is likely to be used for long range patrols. There are also thrusters buried in the hull which allow it to hover or move vertically up or down, even sideways.

The flat nose is a telltale sign that it has a relatively large sonar there for detecting underwater targets. The above-surface eyes and ears are carried by two masts which fold down into the streamlined hull when when not in use. The small bumps either side at the front might be part of a homing system to allow it to locate underwater objects, possible even a mother submarine. 

Large underwater robots are seen as one of the key emerging technologies in naval warfare but so far the cost and complexity of this solution has meant that no country, not even the United States, has fielded them operationally. As the size of the AUV gets larger and more capable the complexity of operating it, transporting and maintaining it increases. So most operational AUVs are very small. The HSU-001 is therefore at the leading edge of AUV adoption.
